History
In 1922, Wolter Werkman, founder of the present Landjuweel, started from Oosternieland as a bargeman of potatoes, vegetables and fruit. A switch to selling more and more table stock potatoes occurred during the sixties, and the management of Werkman B.V. realised at that time that the future of the company lay in retail. The brand name Landjuweel was registered a decade later. By the end of the nineties, Landjuweel had completely switched to delivering to chain stores.
Over the last ten years, the company has grown into a large and modern automated business. Landjuweel belongs to the top companies within the Dutch potato chain and now plays a leading role in this chain.
